Planning my holidays and goals for 2011.

Currently topping the agenda for a summer biking adventure is Norwich to Nice.  The idea is to get 4+ of us with a car and take it in turns to drive.  Car takes the bags each day to that nights Logis de France /Geet /Hotel whilst everyone else rides.  Driver can then ride back and join the group for the last bit of the days ride.  Once in Nice a couple of people drive the car back with the bikes and the others get a plane or a train.

Route idea is 2 days to Newhaven or Dover. Prefering the Newhaven idea. Stopping North of London the first night.  Second night would be in Dieppe or Calais.  Then ride from there to Roubaix, Reims and down to Geneve.  Then from there through the alps playing on some Cols to get to Nice.

Haven't decided exactly when yet to do it, though some where late June or July.  Would be great to be able to see le Tour if we are nearby.  Would similarly be great to be in Nice on Sunday 26th June when Ironman France takes place.

Distance will be around about 1,000 miles.  So a similar distance to Lands End John O'Groats but in slightly warmer conditions on more cycle friendly roads, without the hassle of getting to LE to start or as remote a finish place as J O'G to get home from.

Would look to take 2 weeks to do this trip.  Going via Geneve gives others the option to join us for the first part or the second part.

Could be our own little two week Tour de France - perhaps we should put in a time-trial day.

Anyone interested?

Riding 1000 miles to take part in an Ironman would be legendary.

I'd be keen for this providing it doesn't clash with current plans/work.

Failing that I'd happily join part of the route when I could
