Jonathan Briggs welcomed a packed auditorium to the Forum, venue for
Tri-Anglia Triathlon Club's AGM.
Following the trend set last year Jonathan used a metaphor/simile to
describe what being a member of Tri-Anglia means: this year being something
that is cool and which we all love - hence the great turn out on the night.
Doing something that you love tends to mean that you get good at it and the
club is very proud to have had representation in over 12 national and
international championships covering a wide range of triathlon, duathlons
and other related sports. The club is not just about the "elite" and we
also celebrate those personal achievements - whether that be a first
triathlon or Ironman; as well as success in events such as our club's fastest
time in the Round Norfolk Relay, high team positions in the City of Norwich
Half Marathon, and winners in the Bungay marathon and half marathon - to name
a few.
As well as individuals' success in events and the camaraderie enjoyed
during training, the club has also done well with its own events - making a
positive financial contribution to the club. This financial foothold will
enable us to do more for our members in the future. This success is down to
the hard work of many volunteers and marshals as well as the club committee
and co-optees.
As a new committee is voted in three members are not
standing for re-election and Jonathan thanked, on behalf of the club, Clare
Cole, Penny Edwards, Jackie Richards and Darryl Davis for their fine support. The
attendees of the AGM acknowledged the efforts of all those who have helped
the club throughout 2009 and showed their appreciation. The formal part of
the AGM then was transacted followed by the Club's annual awards and a social
gathering, which included pizza and Ronaldo's fine ice cream.
