It is not just the health and well being of our members that benefit from association with the sports of triathlon. Charities and the community benefit too.

On this page you will find out what our members have done, what they are planning on doing and how you can help out.

 

2008

So far in 2008 our members have raised over £11,000 for a variety of charities with plenty more activity going on to take that figure higher.  You can help by clicking the links below and making a donation.

Matt Ellis, Mall Spillman, Oliver Milk and Rob Lines have formed a relay team for the British Heart Foundation Relay Challenge in Diss on 18th October. More details

Jeremy Storr is aiming to raise £1,000 towards Action Duchenne by swimming a mile each hour every hour for 24 hours on 4th October. He has so far raised over £670. - Local Paper Article

Peter Chapman Etape for Each
Peter Chapman and fellow villager Gary Reeve raised £1,450 for EACH by riding l'Etape du Tour which this year included Col du Tourmalet and Hautacam in the Pyreness on 6th July

  Rob Lines raised over £1,200 for the Spinal Injuries Association through the completion of Ironman South Africa on Sunday 13th April.
Robbie Gleeson raised £1,170 for Cancer Research UK through his participation in the Norwich Triathlon bid on 6th July.

Ken Matthews and daughter Caroline raised £1,000 for the Ulster Cancer Foundation by completing the 2008 Bupa Great North Run together.
Colin Browning raised £1,003 for East Anglia's Children Hospices when he cycled from  John O'Groats to Lands End between 17th and 30th MayReport + Hints and Tips.
Mark Philo has raised £1,000 towards for East Anglian Air Ambulance with his first Ironman on 13th July at Ironman Austria

Jonathan Tyrrell has raised over £800 for Cancer Research UK with his first Ironman on 13th July at Ironman Austria.

Matt Ellis raised  £650 for East Anglia's Children Hospices with his cycle ride from Lands End to John O'Groats 17th and 30th MayTrip preview including route.
Cancer Research UK Graham Pigg has raised over £500 towards Cancer Research UK with his third Ironman bid on 7th September at Ironman UK.

Andy Atthowe is raised £450 for Big C Cancer Care with his first Ironman at Ironman Austria on 13th July.

Mark Hardiman MSF Ironman Austria Mark Hardiman's first Ironman at Ironman Austria on 13th July has raised £446 for Medecins Sans Frontieres.

Simon Edye raised his target of £400 for Marie Curie Cancer Care by swimming  the 5k Swimathon on 17th April.
Meningitis Trust Rob Lines raised over £300 for the Meningitis Trust with his third Ironman at Ironman UK on 7th September.

2007

In 2007 our members raised well over £10,000 for various charities and local community projects.

  • Ironman Switzerland provided the vehicle for Peter Chapman to raise £3,000 for EACH and Rob Lines raised over £2,100 for Action Medical Research
  • Rob Lines donated his employers 'Inspiring Through Sport' award to the Norwich Canoe Club and Norwich Rowing Clubs combined Club House Project.  This was worth £1,700 to the project.
  • Jenny Mayne raised over £1,500 for the Hamlet Centre in Thorpe by raising sponsorship through her first Olympic Tri at Norwich.
  • Loch Ness Marathon enabled Sue Potter to raise over £1,200 for Child-Lines.
  • Penny Edwards raised money for the Mancroft Advice Project in completing Ironman Hawaii.
  • Darren Powell raised £400 for Clic Sargent running the London Marathon.
  • Tri-Anglia donated £100 to Cancer Backup.
