I have done this race the last 2 years and something has always gone wrong. In 2006 I missed the 2nd lap marker, and came back to transition on the bike too early so cycled and extra 2km ish. 2007 It was a longer race, and I forgot my energy gels, so had to race on water and suffered in the last run. This time i was determined to do it right. Having just invested in some carbon wheels, and an aero helmet, I was confident my bike split would be quicker. In the event it turned out to be a bit wet and greasy on the road so I was a bit more cautious than usual so I did not notice the extra speed that much. I did find that as i'm now in age group H and got an earlier wave start I had a lot more people to race, and had overtaken nearly everyone near me on the first lap of the bike.. by lap two I seemed to be on my own on the road! Overall I was happiest with both runs, which were both quicker than last years times. Roll on Austria!

"Cambridge went very well: had a good strong run and more of the same on the bike. Second run let me down a bit but It was my 3rd race in consecutive weeks so felt my legs at the end. Next one is the Europeans in Serres where i am looking to improve on my 10th position (in my age-group) from last year."
