Bicycle Maintenance/Servicing Course.

We have provisionally booked the above course for the weekend of 27 or 28 January.

The course is aimed at a basic/intermediate level, ideally aimed at the triathlete who has little or no knowledge of cycle maintenance. The course takes place over one day, approx 10am-5pm and is very friendly, light hearted with full interaction.

The day covers all aspects of servicing that can be done at home without the need for specialist tools; Full brake and gear service, Headset re-grease and fork removal, safety checks, tyre and tubes, pedals etc. The work covered and completed on the day by the attendees on there own bikes would cost considerably more if they took there bike to a shop. The day is full hands on with all jobs demonstrated and then done by the attendees. (Although the course will need to follow some basic structure, during the day there will be ample time to adjust the requirements to suit the individual’s needs.)

Participants come away with the knowledge and information to do a lot of basic maintenance of their bikes, which in the past they would have to pay for. Also an added bonus of the course is that even if after the day itself they still are not confident enough to completely service their own bike, it does give them a great insight into what should actually be done when they do pay to have their bike done in a shop. An awful lot of athletes pay huge sums of money for servicing and they have no idea what has actually been done to the bike.

The course is run by Dan Goodbourn. He has been involved in the sport of triathlon for 16 years. Worked for British Triathlon, raced as an Age Grouper, a Senior Race Referee and also the longest standing Age Group/Elite Team Bike Mechanic. He has attended over 30 World, European and Commonwealth events all over the world as Team Bike Mechanic.

The cost for this course is £30 per individual.

To allow us to progress the booking deposits of £10 are now being taken to secure a place on the course (cheques payable Tri-anglia to Kerry - 76 Abinger Way Eaton Norwich NR4 6LJ.

If you know anyone from another club who would be interested (cycling clubs?) please pass info on.
