Discovered at this stage when unloading my bike out of the van, Darryl had taken off my bottle cage – Kraig despatched to Pedal Revolution at Cromer to buy one.

Clare ran this stage last year, I knew I could not be with her all the time, so I asked her where Tim met her last year, suggesting at light-house? “No” says Clare, “before that”, ok so I keep her in sight and we re-unite at the end of the promenade. It’s a bit narrow on the bike, but its ok – then we get to the lighthouse, which sits on the top a steep bank/cliff, Clare says “oh Tim met me up there last year……” Clare I know you want to get me mountain biking but during the RNR is not a good time, Clare gazelled up the bank, I was left heaving my bike up the bank…..

At this point I would like to apologise to Clare, she ran this stage last year and knew what a pig it was and she let me bully her into doing it again.

We come into the end of the stage and I can see no cycle support (Pete had an accident on the way to event) I am prepared to go again, but a gallant Steve Rush jumps on my bike – I think there is a good 10 inches between me and Steve (look at photo on website). This was the only hitch we had in the whole event.
