North Norfolk 7 - Holt 7miler

21st October 2007

Sunday morning was a great day for a run – clear, bright and no wind. Must have been a good day for biking too, but ask Clare as I saw her meeting up with the Norwich Velo club on my out to Holt to do the North Norfolk Seven. It all started rather abruptly as while I was still stretching back from the start, the race had begun with no usual fog horn sound. So the early part of the race I felt like Han Solo zipping in and out through the asteroids as I manoeuvred through loads of the starting runners. It was flat off of the start with a small climb after a mile and then a long descent towards Sherringham and into Kelling. The downhill gave me a 6:10 mile and then out of Kelling, the inevitable long climb out and into the heaths giving 7:40 for the next mile. The long climb finished at about the half-way point and the mile times became more consistent for the rest of the run which went very well for me to finish in 48:17. Apart from the subdued race start, organisation was excellent with a plethora of marshals and a personal PA welcome for the finishers along with my two boys to present me with my fining medal.

The afternoon finished well for me as a couple Tri-Anglians met at the Letheringsett Kings Head pub for lunch – an idea shared by many of the runners as it turned out.

Tri-Anglia was well represented with Kevin Rooney, Mark Philo, James Hayward, Steve Rush, Trish McCarthy, Rob Evans, Stuart Ingram and Jen Child.
