The event comprised a 1500m swim in the Royal Albert Dock, which they say meets blue flag water standards despite being cloudy and green, a 25 mile two lap bike course up to the Tower of London and then a 10 km run around the dock, finishing in the huge Excel Centre.
The event was billed as the biggest triathlon ever staged with over 8000 competitors of all ages and sizes.
Mark Newnham and Richard Tomsett took part in the 30/35 yr age group and both achieved excellent results with Mark coming 15th out of 500 starters in a time of 2 hrs 16mins 53 seconds and was the fastest swimmers completing the 1500 m in 21:08mins.
Richard competed in the second wave finishing in an excellent time of 2hrs 33mins 7 seconds.
Jim Keeble took part in the 40/44 age group finishing 28th out of 300 in a time of 2hrs 25min 24 seconds, which was a superb improvement on last year when he suffered badly on the run in the heat finishing in 2hrs 37 mins.
The elite event was split into male and female groups with New Zealand's Bevan Docherty winning the men's race in a stunning 1hr 46mins 18second making him one of the favorites for the Olympic title in Athens later this month.
Britain's Andrea Whitcombe won the ladies elite in 1 hr 59 mins and 12 secs and is the reserve for Britain's Olympic team.
